ALBERTO GRASSI FOLLOWING PARMA 2-0 LECCE: “AN IMPORTANT WIN, NOW IT’S TIME TO FOCUS ON THE ROMA GAME”

Parma, 13 January 2020 – “This is a very important victory, we needed to make amends after the defeat we suffered against Atalanta. At our home stadium, we managed to pick up the points.” This is what Alberto Grassi had to say following the Crociati’s win against Lecce on matchday 19 in Serie A. The Parma midfielder continued: “We were up against a tough opponent in Lecce, who play a good brand of football. We weren’t great in the first half but managed to turn things around after the restart. The team’s formation? The Coach knows that he has lads available who always make a contribution: he did well to prepare for the game in the best way possible, while we did well in terms of putting our preparations into practice on the pitch. Our objective is to avoid relegation. Given how things went last season, we first need to achieve our aim and then we’ll see after that. The first half of the season has been positive, absolutely. I think it would have been impossible to do better.”

On Thursday, a Coppa Italia last-16 clash against Roma at the Tardini awaits: “We want to do well, it’s an important competition which could also provide an opportunity for those who have played fewer matches. Roma are a very strong side, one of the best teams in the league. It’ll be a very difficult game.”

Grassi has now started both of the Crociati’s fixtures in 2020: what’s on his wishlist this year? “Nothing,” he concluded with a smile on his face. “When I wish for something, it always results in… actually, I’m going to stay quiet because it’s better this way.”
