Collecchio, 1 August 2020 – On the eve of Lecce vs. Parma in Serie A (20:45 CEST), coach Roberto D’Aversa said the following to the offical Parma Calcio 1913 site:
One day until Lecce vs. Parma on the final day of the season. How’re the team heading into the game?
“Apart from Grassi, Brugman, Kucka and Karamoh, the rest of the team have been called up. Cornelius and Inglese are back, the team are doing well and are ready for this away trip.”
Tomorrow’s game is the final one of the season. It’s sure to be a firey one: Lecce are fighting for survival and Parma will be looking to finish the season in the best way possible.
“It’ll be hot due to the temperature and due to the type of game we’re going into. We know full well the situation Lecce are in. They’ll have to do all they can to try to win the game and to avoid the possibility of relegation. From our side of things, there’s a chance we can finish level with Verona if they lose. Our goal must be to finish ninth or tenth we need to do all we can to reach it.”
What type of team are Lecce? How do you plan to face them?
“In my opinion, Lecce have been made to pay since lockdown. Before the break, they were playing well. They we active in the transfer window and bought some big players, and they were getting some positive results. Afterwards though, they’ve had some injuries, not enough squad depth and when you’re playing every three days, it takes its toll. They’re a really organised team. Liverani has shown he wants to play positive football, both at home and away, so we’re well aware of the type of game that awaits us. It’s clear that it won’t be an easy game, but there are no easy games. So, we need to have the right mentality, because it’s not just an important game in terms of this matchday, but in terms of the whole season too.”
