Parma, 3 September 2019 – Today, we take a look at one of the new signings made by the Crociati: Giuseppe Pezzella. A defender born in 1997, Pezzella joined Palermo’s youth ranks in 1997, where he developed as a player from 2013 to 2015. He then went on to make his Serie A debut with the Rosanero in the 2015/16 season, when he made a total of nine appearances. The following campaign, he played ten times for Palermo in Italy’s top tier. In his first two seasons as a professional player, he also appeared twice in the Coppa Italia.
He then signed for Udinese ready for the 2017/18 season. During his first season with the Bianconeri, he played 15 times in Serie A and three times in the Coppa Italia, while last year’s campaign saw him split his time between the side from Udine and Genoa. He made nine Serie A appearances in total and played once in the Coppa Italia.
This season, Pezzella started Udinese’s home win against Milan. After signing for the Crociati, he came on as a substitute during Parma’s second game of the 2019/20 Serie A TIM campaign against his former side.
Pezzella also has international experience with Italy’s youth teams: he was involved in the Azzurri side which finished runners-up at the Under-19 European Championship and the one which came third in the Under-20 World Cup. He’s was also named in the Under-21 squad for both the 2017 and 2019 European Championships.
