LUIGI SEPE FOLLOWING SASSUOLO 0-0 PARMA: “AN IMPORTANT POINT, THOUGHTS WILL TURN TO MILAN TOMORROW”

Reggio Emilia, 14 April 2019 – It’s a very important point in terms of our league position, we’re happy. This is what Parma goalkeeper Luigi Sepe had to say following today’s draw against Sassuolo. He then continued: “The result could have perhaps been different, but we’re very happy. I don’t look at the goals we concede but the points we pick up and the performances the team put in. The league table? We’ve now got 35 points. We need another four or five and must try to get them as soon as possible. I did well after making an early mistake – such a mistake can affect you for the whole match, but I dealt with it from a mental point of view. I then remained focused throughout the rest of the game. I don’t know which out of the saves I made was the most difficult, I can’t remember. Tomorrow, we’ll watch them back on video, we’ll take a particular look at my mistakes and also the saves I made. We’re happy with this 0-0 draw.

“I don’t think that Parma did little in attack, we were playing a great side in Sassuolo, who are technically very strong and look to dominate the ball. We did well to stick at it and come away with the goalless draw. And if we’d had a bit more luck, we could have got the three points… Ceravolo? He showed a great spirit of sacrifice. As regards the penalty, it’s possible to score or miss, but there’s no need to focus on this. Instead, we need to focus on our excellent performance against a great team. We’ve picked up a really important point today.

From tomorrow, the team’s thoughts will turn to Milan. “We hope to win, even if it’s underserved,” he says, smiling. We have to work hard and try to threaten their goal and win the match. The future? I’m not thinking about it, we’re working hard and I’m very happy to be here. I’m not thinking about next year. I’m only focused on reaching our objective, something that I hope to achieve as soon as possible together with my teammates, the Club, the fans and everyone else involved. Following this, thoughts will turn to the summer break, and then we can think about next season.”
