Parma, 17 June 2019 – The latest moment in our season round-up comes in the form of one of our most memorable games of the season, that of our 3-3 draw vs. Juventus.
In what was a hugely dramatic encounter in our first game of February, Parma came out unbeaten at the Allianz Stadium against the Bianconeri. That night, D’Aversa‘s starting XI was as follows: Sepe, Iacoponi, Barillà, Scozzarella, B. Alves (cap.), Gervinho, Gagliolo, Inglese, Biabiany, Kucka and Bastoni.
Unsurprisingly, Juventus came out fast against the Crociati with Khedira missing an early chance to break the deadlock by hitting the post. Parma remained compact, although could do nothing about the game’s opener in the 36th minute, as Ronaldo’s right-footed effort deflected off Iacoponi and into the back of the net. The rhythm of the game didn’t change after the interval, first with Khedira hitting the post once again, while Rugani then doubled his side’s lead in the 62nd minute. Parma didn’t lose hope, however, and Barillà got his side back into it two minutes later – heading home after a precise cross from Kucka.
It was then Ronaldo who reinstated Juventus’ two-goal lead soon after with a towering header, yet Bruno Alves and Co. never gave up. Gervinho scored Parma’s second in the 74th minute with a cute back-heel, stemming from yet another fantastic assist from Kucka, while the game’s final and decisive goal was scored in added time. The goal itself was a work of true teamwork, with Bastoni initially winning the ball back from Mandzukic before Inglese then slid in Gervinho to blast the ball past Perin. 3-3 was the final scoreline, with Parma leaving the Allianz Stadium unbeaten.
