Parma, 16 November 2018 – During the international break, Parma Calcio have continued to train ahead of the upcoming league match against Sassuolo on 25 November. In the meantime, press activities are continuing at Collecchio. After Jonathan Biabiany, it was Riccardo Gagliolo’s turn to speak with the press. During the 2-1 win away at Torino, he made his 50th appearance in a Parma shirt.
“On a personal level, I’m satisfied at the moment and also because we’re doing very well as a collective,” he said. “Did I expect us to start like this? I certainly dreamed of it, we’ve started really well. We’ve kept the core of the team from last year and very important players such as Inglese, Gervinho and Stulac have come in. We’ve had an excellent start, let’s hope to continue in the same fashion.
“Our solidity at the back is one our strengths, we’re aware of this. Everyone takes part in the defensive phase, not just the defence. It’s easier when you defend with eleven. This is an important aspect, if you look at who wins league titles, it’s born from the defence. In Turin, the Coach played me at full-back, I looked to do my best and I got an assist. Unfortunately, I didn’t score but we got the win. Do I prefer to play at centre-back? What matters is playing where the Coach tells me to? A goal against Sassuolo? Let’s hope so, we’re working to bring home a result in that game. They have a good coach, they play good football. We also played them in pre-season, they’re a good team and we should look to limit them and make the most of our qualities.”
“The break? This week, we need to relax a bit mentally, we’re having fun in training. Then we’ll start thinking about the league again next week. My 50th appearance? I didn’t celebrate it to be honest, I only learned about it after the Torino match. Parma made an investment signing me from Carpi last year and I’m very happy about this. I always look to give my best.Transfer rumours? I don’t know, I’m completely focused on Parma and very happy to be here.”
