Parma, 25 October 2020 – At the end of the match between Parma and Spezia, which ended 2-2, we listen to comments from Coach Fabio Liverani.

“Clearly we wanted to win it. We got off to a good start, and then we conceded two goals that made us change our tactical set up at that point in the game. We have eleven players unavailable, and so I’d like to thank Grassi for working so hard every day during this player shortage and for playing such a brilliant match in a role he’s only had 20 minutes of experience in. It’s obvious, and we know, that we’ll encounter difficulties, but it takes patience. I know it is not easy; the point we earned has however changed the league table. I am convinced that this team will grow as we continue to train and work as a group, together. I think this is a very good squad, with many good players, but we need to be able to work together; to date we haven’t even trained a day with a full squad.

“We have to adhere to the protocol, it’s valid for everyone; for us the absences – many of which play in the same area of the pitch – all happened in the same period; we hope to be able to move past this difficult situation soon. Until today we had seven absentees due to Covid-19, plus two injured players in Busi and Mihaila, who join to the others that are unavailable like Laurini (who pulled up yesterday in training). We have eleven players absent and for a team like Parma this number of unavailable players will of course create some difficulties”.

“To this day I can really feel the group spirit and morale. I have no doubt that it’s a group that believes in itself, fights until the end and never gives up. We performed physically, with players attacking well in the 95′ in the opponent’s area. It’s true that they struck the post three times, but it must also be said that we had some chances, two with Karamoh but also with Kucka and Gagliolo. As a game it was a bit too open, but I think a draw is fair; we brought it back more with our hearts than with our quality. When you work with a team spirit like that it’s easier to reach the goal”.
