Parma, 16 December 2020 – Following the match between Parma and Cagliari, this was how Fabio Liverani looked back on the fixture at the Stadio Tardini.

“We almost always played in the opposition’s half, showing great character, skill, possession and created a lot of chances to break the deadlock. We lacked some precision and that little touch of ruthlessness needed to score. We had a chance with Brunetta, another with Inglese and with Kucka in the first half. We need to be more clinical to win matches but I can’t say anything to my team right now. We were facing one of the sides in the bottom half so it was a game that we wanted to win. Cagliari are a proper team, we took them on and played well and now we’ll put this one behind us and move on to the other two games before Christmas. The team is improving a lot, they’re doing well on the pitch and creating chances. We’re not quite taking them but we’re improving.

“The break will be very short and I don’t think we’ll have more than four days off, there are games on 3 January and there’s not much of a break but it will help us to get some players back. I’m happy to coach this group, we’re stepping up in terms of our condition, mentality and how we play. Considering the work done, we deserve a couple more points than what we’ve got but fate will probably reward us further down the line.

“The transfer market? I’m not involved in it much, the ownership and directors deal with this and I’m happy with the squad that I’ve got. I’d be happy to keep them all, we could do with a little more in terms in numbers but I’m very satisfied with the squad and convinced that the whole group will be able to kick on and improve in the future. Scozzarella? He had a muscle issue.”
