Parma, 12 February 2021 – During Graziano Pellè’s presentation press conference today, Parma Calcio 1913’s Sporting Director Marcello Carli had the following to say:
“The conversations we’ve had this week will remain between us, even if nothing unusual was said. We know what we’re going through, we’re not stupid. Last week, we stayed together to help the newcomers bed in. I felt really positive about what I saw, and the lads worked incredibly hard. Then, we produced a poor performance against Bologna, something we honestly weren’t expecting. At this current time, it’s not about what we say, but what we do instead. We’re aware that we’re currently disappointing all those who love Parma. We shouldn’t expect anything from them, we’re the ones that have to step up.
In this world, it’s the team that must excite the fans. Right now, we’re not doing this and we have to take responsibility for it. Everyone, myself included. We need to keep quiet and let our actions on the pitch speak for themselves, because our destiny is in our own hands. We must show the fans that we deserve their support, without asking for anything from anyone. We can’t make any excuses, we have a perfect Club and I think it may be one of the few that is regularly paying wages without any payment deferrals, even though we probably could go down this route. There’s nothing stopping us from getting out of this mess: if we don’t end up doing it, it’ll be because we won’t have been up to standard. We’re responsible for the outcome. Talk is cheap, we have to show the fans that we can do it. We’re the only ones who can take responsibility for this situation and the only ones who can get ourselves out of it.
