Parma, 19 March 2021 – Here are Coach D’Aversa’s post-match comments in the press room after Parma vs. Genoa:
“It’s hard to comment on defeat after such a match. We played an excellent match, as shown by the number of chances we created, we conceded three situations, one of which was a shot from outside the box, but in the end unfortunately the most important numbers are those on the final scoreboard. Although we created nine chances, three of which were in the six-yard box, in the end we unfortunately lost 2-1. We’re disappointed about this because of our performance, I think we were superior on the pitch but the final scoreline does not reflect this”.
“We have conceded a lot of goals, we need to think about the fact that it is a constant number since I arrived. This number has increased around the league, most likely due to the lack of attention that there may be, maybe due to the lack of fans. We often concede goals from individual errors, which doesn’t make you feel comfortable but it’s most likely due to the situation in the standings. I believe that when you are having a good game, when you’re ahead against a team and you’re superior in all areas, you must remain determined until the end of the game to bring home the win. We’ll analyse the games and work on the mistakes that we made”.
“Just as we shouldn’t have gotten carried away with the victory against Roma, we must not be discouraged after a negative result; we need to reflect on every single match, we had the match in our hands, and we let it slip away, but now we will get to work ahead of the next match which sees us in an important away tie against Benevento. The break will be an opportunity to get to work, improve the players’ physical conditioning a little bit, allow the injured players to recover, but then there are the national teams, so that week we’ll be working with an incomplete number of players. It will certainly help with getting the injured players recovered”.
