Turin, 21 April 2021 – After the match at the Allianz Stadium, Coach D’Aversa had the following words to say in the press room:

“We put in an excellent performance in the first half, bringing intensity and working really well, both defensively and offensively. The goal conceded two minutes from the end of the first half came in a circumstance from which we have consistently made mistakes. I’m referring to the corner kick, which I think influenced our second-half performance and the final result. We often concede goals from dead-ball situations and then we couldn’t take our chances to get back into the game when they fell our way. My starting choices? Mihaila did not train all week and at the moment he is only available for about 20-30 minutes, so the choice fell to Gervinho who I think we had a good game in defensively, while he could have done better in attack. Cornelius is just back from injury and isn’t ready to face three games in one week.”

“Before the game, I said that the fact that we lost a match to a direct rival meant that the percentage of achieving survival had decreased, which made me want to face this game in a serene way, so as to not make mistakes due to the standings or to see an objective slip away. In 2021, we have lost 19 points from opposition comebacks, if we had had the ability to preserve a positive result, our position in the standings would most likely look much better, on five circumstances we suffered sensational comebacks, with the most sensational defeat coming at Cagliari. It’s clear that we would be talking about a very different ranking position if these games ended differently. We have had a lot of shortcomings and we are the only ones responsible.”
