Parma, 27 August 2021 – The Crociati history of matches against Benevento is rather short.

This tale only began last season in Serie A.

To remember a match between these two teams at Stadio Ennio Tardini, with the next one scheduled for Sunday 29 August (20:30 CEST) for the matchday of Serie B 2021/2022, we inevitably have to look back on the only one played there.

This match was played behind closed doors, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on the evening of 6 December 2020. It was the first time ever that Parma and Benevento faced each other in an official match.

It was a lacklustre 0-0 draw between two sides replaced due to injuries and disqualifications.

The visitors were on a record-breaking winning streak and were fresh from a stunning 1-1 draw with Italian champions Juventus.

Emotions were scarce on both sides.

They mainly battled in midfield, without creating any real problems for their opponents.

As for Parma, there were a couple of chances, but none dangerous.

Both came towards the end. In the 71st minute, Gervinho’s snaking run down the right flank wasn’t initially exploited by Andrea Cornelius. He was then unable to get the ball in, but it fell to Juan Francisco Brunetta, who was then beaten by defender Gaetano Letizia.

With only a few seconds remaining, a header from Hernani, who found himself in a good position, missed the target.
