Parma, 24 September 2021Lega Serie B is also taking part in the seventh edition of the European Week of Sport, which the European Commission launched in 2015 and which runs every year from 23 to 30 September.

The Lega is doing so through a series of awareness-raising initiatives on matchday 6. The aim of the project, which is being organised and coordinated by the state-owned Sport e Salute S.p.A, is to promote healthy lifestyles as an essential part of personal growth and social well-being.

It represents a team game that will see various components work together to drive the relaunch of the sports sector after a long and complex period of closures due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Among various initiatives, the BeActive Multi Sport Village will be set up at the Foro Italico park in Rome.

More sport, more life. Sport, which the European Week of Sport celebrates, is for everyone, regardless of age or gender. It’s never too late to start being active, pursuing a healthy lifestyle and joyfully embracing sporting activities.

Sport helps you to keep fit and control your weight so that cardiovascular diseases and musculoskeletal disorders can be avoided. It helps you feel healthy and fit physically, as well as strong, happy and resilient psychologically. As Lega Serie B President Mauro Balata has repeatedly said, sport promotes social interaction and self-esteem and, through a sense of shared enjoyment, brings people of different ages together, thus facilitating intergenerational exchange.

Furthermore, through sport, young people learn lessons that will stay with them for life, such as remaining committed, persevering, playing by the rules and accepting both victory and defeat. The European Week of Sport also focuses on the topics of old age, school, inclusion and combatting marginalisation.
