Parma, 30 September 2021 – In four quick minutes near the beginning of the match, the attacking partnership of Mariani-Barbuti helped Parma to the only victory in Crociati history against Spal, on Sunday 10 October 1982 at Stadio Paolo Mazza in Ferrara. This is the stadium they will return to on Saturday 2 October to play their Matchday 7 fixture of Serie B 2021/22 (18:30 CEST).

Massimo Barbuti, who was wearing our jersey for the first time that day, broke the deadlock twelve minutes in.

Enrico Cannata freed himself down the left, reached the goal line and crossed back towards the centre of the box where Barbuti headed it in (0-1).

It was Massimo’s first goal for Parma, after missing the start of the season due to health issues.

Barbuti, with this goal, immediately made fans fall in love, as he soon became one of their idols.

The second (0-2) was scored on 16 minutes by Stefano Mariani, a classic right winger of the time, technical and fast, who was one of the main sources of assists for Massimo Barbuti over the course of two seasons.

The Mariani-Barbuti partnership was key to Parma on their way to promotion from Serie C1 to Serie B the following season, 1983/84.
