Reggio Calabria, 24 October 2021 – At the end of today’s matchday nine fixture in Serie B between Reggina and Parma, which finished 2-1, the Crociati head coach Enzo Maresca had the following words to say:

“What we expected happened when Reggina went ahead, in that conceding early made the game more difficult. We’re disappointed, we would have liked to give ourselves, the city, and the fans some more points. The only medicine is to work, to analyse where the mistakes are being made and to avoid making them again. The results and standings prove that it’s difficult in Serie B. We’re disappointed because when you work hard every day you’d like to see results, we have to understand and analyse what isn’t working so that we can improve and avoid making mistakes”.

“We decided to build out in a certain way, with three defenders and two in front of the defence and in the first phase we had the numerical advantage in midfield, and it was quite easy to manage. We brought Man and Vazquez back between the lines. We haven’t had Franco for two games, he’s a player who makes a big difference”.

“The standings, for us, is complicated, but it’s so early that there is still time to recover and get back into the top half of the table. We’ve seen that it’s a league where anything and everything can happen, as happened with Pordenone in Pisa. The table says that we’re three points from the playoffs and the same number from the relegation zone, but we’ll have to see when it counts towards the end of the season. Logically, the more points you score now, the more likely you are to be at the top”.
