Parma, 27 October 2021 – One memorable clash away to Cittadella was the 2-2 draw on 16 May 2009, a result which secured Parma’s immediate return to Serie A after relegation the year before.

Then, there was the victory we achieved at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato on a damp autumn afternoon four years ago.

It was a win sealed by a brace from Emanuele Calaiò, who shone that day.

This is the game that we’re looking back on ahead of our next fixture against the team from Veneto, a matchday ten clash in Serie B that will kick off at 20:30 CEST tomorrow.

On Saturday 17 November 2017, we broke the deadlock in the 41st minute on the counter.

Yves Baraye started the move, with the Senegalese man picking out Roberto Insigne.

After racing into the box, the Italian rolled the ball across for Calaiò, who was left with the simple job of putting the ball into the net (0-1).

The hosts equalised on the 73-minute mark via the penalty spot.

Referee Marco Serra awarded the spot-kick after Antonino Barillà had brought down Andrea Schenetti in the box.

Manuel Iori then stepped up and scored.

Indeed, the Cittadella captain sent Pierluigi Frattali the wrong way, firing low into the bottom corner to level matters (1-1).

Then, with 80 minutes on the clock, the home side were reduced to ten men, with Davide Adorni seeing red for a professional foul on Calaiò.

Shortly afterwards, Parma netted the final goal of the game.

In the 84th minute, Insigne freed Antonio Di Gaudio down the left, with the latter having come on for Baraye just before Cittadella’s equaliser.

Totò produced a low cross for Calaiò, who beat the goalkeeper to the ball, slotted home and ran to celebrate in front of the visiting supporters.
