Parma, 15 March 2022 – Although not exactly a prolific goalscorer, Antonio Benarrivo, the only player in Crociati history who was involved in all eight of the Club’s trophy triumphs, enjoyed success in front of goal at the Stadio Romeo Menti in Vicenza, where Parma Calcio will play this evening.

Indeed, two of the six goals the former full-back bagged in 362 Crociati appearances came at that ground, and they arrived just eight months apart.

Both were scored from outside the box and the left side of the pitch. And both couldn’t be stopped by then Vicenza goalkeeper Luca Mondini, who was born in Parma.

The first was netted on 28 April 1996 and was enough to seal a 1-0 win, even if there was a bit of luck involved.

In the 79th minute, Benarrivo played the ball towards the far post. It was perhaps more of a cross, but it came off the woodwork, bounced off Mondini and ended in the net.

The second came on 15 December 1996, on a cold and foggy evening. It earned the Crociati a 1-1 draw after Giampiero Gimmy Maini had given the hosts the lead.

With 72 minutes on the clock, Antonio scored with a stunning left-footed strike from the edge of the area, with the ball flying into the near top corner.
