Parma, 17 April 2022 – Tomorrow, during matchday 35 of Serie B, the captains of every team in the league will wear a special armband dedicated to the memory of Piermario Morosini, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of his tragic death.

It was April 14, 2012, when Morosini died after suffering a cardiac arrest at the age of just 25, during Pescara v Livorno.

Ten years after that tragic event, Lega Serie B will never forget and its president, Mauro Balata, remembers not only a good, kind player who always showed respect for his opponents, which was his distinctive trait but also in the promotion of activities under his name, that has brought benefits and economic support to promote the protection and health of all athletes.

The special armbands that will be worn by all the captains were created by Live Onlus, a partner of this initiative.

Each armband will then be signed by the captains and will be put forward for a charity auction to continue to support the association’s projects by donating defibrillators to schools and amateur sports clubs.

Using the captain’s armband is part of other projects that the Lega Serie B, alongside Mauro Balata, has supported Piermario Morosini’s charity: the Gentleman’s San Siro award, which celebrates a player who has stood out from the crowd for their behaviour both on and off the pitch; the signing of the memorandum of understanding for blood passports in collaboration with the “Fioravante Polito” Foundation to support athlete health.
