Crotone, 6 May 2022 – Coach Beppe Iachini gave his thoughts in the press office, following the Crociati’s victory at the Scida, earlier this evening.

“We’ve always shown effort and played with a view to winning and we wanted to sign-off the season in a certain way for the fans who made the mammoth journey to come and watch us today. Today you saw a more combative Parma on the pitch. The team pressed high from the off and from this, we scored. In the second half, we perhaps could’ve had more, but they had a solution to everything we threw at them; they were built with the aim of competing at the top, but pressure can always tell and that’s why Crotone have found themselves in such a season. We have done a lot to turn our own season around. The team has always exhibited a proactive attitude, we’ve just not been particularly good at finishing off our chances, but the team has a real spirit about them”.

“The goalkeeper’s mistake on the goal? If you want to play such a brand of football, it’s difficult to revert to old habits, and mistakes of this nature can happen to anyone on the pitch. The aim was to evaluate the lads on the job and to try to win as many games as possible, at the same time. We will speak to the club. I have got on really well with all the lads and would like to thank everyone; I certainly didn’t anticipate the volume of problems I’ve encountered, the five months or so I’ve been here. We couldn’t get any consistency with our selections at the top of the pitch. I look back at the countless matches without Buffon who brings great personality to the dressing room. The team looked good in those 15 games in which it actually resembled a team. We improved in the offensive areas of the game, while nullifying the threat our opponents posed. With the lack of continuity, it is no coincidence that we picked up several draws. Football is like this, as the unthinkable can creep up on you”.
