Salerno, 7 August 2022Parma’s first game of the 2022/23 season was a convincing and clinical win against Salernitana at the Arechi. It was a thoroughly deserved collective win as goals from Camara and Mihaila sealed a 2-0 victory. The Crociati grew into the game after a slow start, which saw Salernitana dominate the opening stages with Ribery and the pragmatic Bothiem regularly looking a threat. But it was the opposing keeper, Sepe, who started to be called into action several times in the opening half, as the Crociati carved out four good chances that were either saved or off target. After the break, Romagnoli smashed against the bar from a Valenti cross, which then fell to Man who placed his shot wide. But the two goals came soon after. It was Camara who broke the deadlock, after reacting quickest to a Sepe save from a Bernabé attempt; then, Mihaila went through one on one with the Granata shot-stopper and tucked it away calmly. The home side tried to react but came up against an organised defensive unit that saw out the game without too many problems. A trip to Bari, our first Serie BKT league opponents at home next week, is the reward for a chance to reach the Last 16.
