Parma, 26 August 2022 – Parma Women’s first team squad will finally make their Serie A debut on Sunday 28 August (kick-off at 20:30 CEST) as they face Inter away from home on matchday one. For Coach Fabio Ulderici’s side it will be the Crociate’s first ever game in the top flight.

Here’s our dedicated MatchPack with some stats on the eve of the game:

In their three opening matches in Serie A, Inter have won one, drawn one and lost one. In September 2019, they drew 2-2 with Verona, in August 2020 they lost 4-0 to Fiorentina, and won 3-0 against Napoli in August 2021. This will be the second time they have opened up their league campaign at home (2019/20 season was the last time).

After Bologna, Reggiana, Riviera di Romagna, San Zaccaria and Sassuolo, Parma will be the sixth team from Emilia-Romagna to play in Serie A in this millenium.

After San Marino Academy in 2020/21, and Pomigliano and Sampdoria in 2021/22, Parma, along with Como, in the 2022/23 season, are one of five Clubs in the last three seasons to have debuted in Serie A. Out of these, only Sampdoria have gained the three points in their opening game (2-1 vs. Lazio on 29 August 2021).

In percentages, Inter are the team that scored the most first-half goals in the 2021/22 Serie A season, 71% (30/42), and the second team to concede the least in the first 30 minutes of a game, five (leading is Rome with two).

New Parma signing Marija Banusic’s first two Serie A goals came against Inter wearing the jerseys of Roma and Pomigliano; the first for the Giallorosse on 20 March 2021, and the second for the “Pantere”  on 3 October 2021. The Swedish striker hasn’t scored more than this in the competition against any other team.

Since the beginning of March, nobody has scored more goals away from home than Michela Cambiaghi in the top flight (four, as has Lindsey Thomas). Her last seven goals in the league for the former Sassuolo striker have all come away from home.

Valeria Pirone is the only player in Serie A to have scored in the last five seasons with five different teams (Atalanta Mozzanica, ChievoVerona Valpo, Verona, Sassuolo and Roma); Parma may also be included for the 2022/23 season. Pirone has been involved in seven goals in her last four appearances in Serie A (four goals and three assists) after only contributing six times (five goals and one assist) in the previous 18 league games.

New Parma signing Dalila Belèn Ippólito got her first of two Serie A goals against Inter on 3 October for Pomigliano. Out of the players who played a part in more than five goals in last season’s campaign, only 18-year-old Haley Bugeja is younger than the Argentine (born in 2002 – two goals and four assists).

The two defenders who had the most clearances in the 2021/22 Serie A season will come up against each other this weekend: new Inter signing Beatrix Fördos (118 for Lazio) and new Gialloblù signing Danielle Cox (98 for Pomigliano).
