Sesto San Giovanni, 28 August 2022 – Parma Women’s historic first-ever Serie A match was a 4-1 defeat to the hands of Inter at the stadio Ernesto Breda in Sesto San Giovanni on Sunday 28 August. The home side took the lead after a free-kick from Ghoutia Habiba Karchouni was headed home by Stefanie Van Der Gragt, a recent summer signing from Ajax, on 15 minutes. Despite Inter dominating most of the possession and territory early on, Parma still looked dangerous and on 27 minutes Marija Banusic nutmegged Flaminia Simonetti and unleashed a powerful drive that was well-saved by Francesca Durante. On 39 minutes, Inter’s Tabitha Chawinga made an attack into the box but Ana Jelencic was positioned well to cut out the threat. A minute later, Alessia Capelletti saved Van Der Gragt’s header from a corner before then blocking out with her feet Gloria Marinelli’s attempt. Inter doubled their lead though just before half-time; Flaminia Simonetti crossed into the area for Ghoutia Karchouni to head home to make it 2-0. After the break, it was soon 3-0 through Gloria Marinelli, after good work by Tabitha Chawinga. On 56 minutes, Parma captain Valeria Pirone let a right-footed shot fly that forced Francesca Durante to turn it round for a corner. On 78 minutes, Tabitha Chawinga recieved the ball on the left, took it round Alessia Capelletti and slotted home into an open net to make it 4-0. The Gialloblu got a consolation on 43 minutes through Danielle Cox, who took advantage of some sloppy defending from the home side and struck a left-footed shot into the top corner past Francesca Durante.
