Parma, 1st October 2022 – The words of Crociati Coach Fabio Pecchia, after Parma vs. Frosinone, on matchday 7 Serie BKT 2022-23.
“It’s three more points, one more win. On such a long journey, you always experience these matches, these performances. And to bring it home with courage and heart, helped at the end by the crossbar, which could have levelled the game, I must congratulate the boys. You can win in many ways, but today we won it by digging in. In a match that wasn’t particularly good on our part, where something could have happened on both sides. But I congratulate the boys, because when it came to doing the dirty work, the team did it with great desire.
When you win games like that, it boosts the boys’ self-confidence. I’m happy because the final whistle felt like it would never come. There was relief from everyone, that’s a good sign.
My nervousness about the penalties? There were two different situations. The first was because of a piece of play, that we kept forcing it in, it was a set play. What Franco (Vazquez) said earlier in the conference, I agree with him. When one is up there with experienced players, it makes little difference to me. Regardless of who is there, Franco, Bob, or others, you also need a certain responsibility in the group. On the second penalty, I was angry because I was asking for a second yellow for Frabotta, but they told me that from that kind of situation and behaviour, it didn’t warrant a yellow.
Buffon and Camara? Gigi held on but in the end we had to make the change, Camara wasn’t feeling particularly well. Bernabé? He wasn’t hurt in the warm-up, we’ll have to make assessments because he’s still out”.
