Venice, 26 December 2022 – Two goals for Franco Vazquez, a dominant display with many chances in front of goal. Venezia suffered two setbacks either side of half time but managed to salvage a draw from a game in which they needed to pick up points. The Crociati started strongly; in the 33rd minute Joronen produced a fantastic double save on the goal line to deny an insistent Man. In stoppage time, Sohm drew a foul from Tessmann who brought him down in the box, earning a penalty for the Crociati: a faultless Vazquez converted from the spot. After the restart, the second goal came straight away right in front of the 428 travelling fans: Sohm played a ball through to Franco in the box, who knocked it round Joronen and chipped it into the net in the 50th minute. After a great effort from Bernabé which was inches too high, Pohjanpalo capitalised on a Chichizola clearance (a great ball from Pierini), then in the 77th minute, a chance for Man to finish off the match: Tutino glided into the box and after spinning past his man, laid up Dennis Man with a backheel pass, but his shot was somehow tipped over the bar by Joronen. Pierini, after a blocked shot, equalised on the follow up, but in the 93rd minute it was Oosterwolde who failed to find the winner with his header: Joronen responded again and saved on the line. It was the last game of 2022 for the Crociati and it ended with a few rued chances.
