SERIE B FEMMINILE, FREEDOM 0-2 PARMA

Cuneo, 1 October 2023 – On matchday 2 in the Serie B Femminile division, it finished Freedom 0-2 Parma at the Stadio Fratelli Paschiero in Cuneo.

Coach Salvatore Colantuono stuck made no changes to the team that beat Cesena 2-1 on the opening matchday: Federica Rizza, Margherita Brscic, Caterina Ambrosi, Antoinette Jewel Williams lined up in front of goalkeeper Gloria Ciccioli in defence, Vivien Beil partnered Veronica Benedetti in midfield, Caterina Ferin was selected in the attacking playmaker role, Odette Kelly Gago and Gaia DiStefano were the wingers, while Anastasia Spyridonidou was chosen to lead the attack.

After a goalless first half, Parma hit the post through Kongouli on the hour mark and then took the lead from the penalty spot in the 69th minute: Giulia Asta was penalised for handball, and captain Caterina Ambrosi stepped up to convert from twelve yards out. Gaia DiStefano also struck the woodwork for the Crociate on the 75-minute mark, but it was just the prelude to the team’s second goal nine minutes later: following a challenge between Gaia DiStefano and goalkeeper Martina Nucera, the ball fell to Sofia Kongouli, who produced a lovely lob to beat the two defenders that had positioned themselves in front of the goal line. After six minutes of added time, the full-time whistle was blown, with Parma Women making it two wins out of two at the start of this new campaign.
