SPORTING DIRECTOR MAURO PEDERZOLI: “OUR WINDOW WILL BE ABOUT TECHNICAL CONTINUITY”

Parma, 2 July 2024 - The 2024/25 transfer market officially opened its summer edition in Rimini, in the prestigious setting of the Grand Hotel.

Gialloblu sporting director Mauro Pederzoli attended the evening and he received the traditional 'Colpi da Maestro' award, awarded to him by the now former president of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini.

Organized by ADiSe (Italian Association of Sports Directors), in collaboration with Master Group Sport, the awards ceremony was preceded by a talk hosted by Sarah Castellana and Marco Bucciantini, in which Giuseppe Marotta (Inter President), Pantaleo Corvino Lecce (Sporting Director), Piero Ausilio (Inter Sporting Director), Tony D'Amico (Atalanta Sporting Director), Giovanni Sartori (Bologna Sporting Director) and Fabio Artigianato (Cesena Sporting Director) all participated in.

During the evening, the Gialloblu sporting director, Mauro Pederzoli, made the following comments.

A SERIE A TEAM

The objectives are to include something to a squad, but we intend to confirm to a large extent the current players because we believe that giving continuity to our technical project is extremely important. The ability of our ownership has been to remain faithful to its principles especially in difficult moments. Across these three years, there have been complicated moments but the owner has allowed us to continue on this path with a young team that plays proactive football, and with a courageous coach, and thanks to this we have reached our objective, namely Serie A. Now, a new objective awaits us, to stay in the league, without losing our philosophy'.

THE STRENGTH OF THE “KRAUSE OWNERSHIP”

I believe that our players have seen that ownership has a strength; a strength that it demonstrates in beliefs and in wanting to play a certain type of football. The owners managed to convey this very well to our lads, who embraced the project with great enthusiasm. Even those who experienced the sad year of relegation now finally find themselves back in Serie A, as well surrounded by the enthusiasm of the city. We accept the roles, we focus on ourselves and what will characterise us will be the search for technical continuity and some little improvements. This must be done with great attention to the market, to present a competitive team.'

THE SEARCH FOR TALENT

Italian or foreign footballers? I like to talk about talent, nationality comes second. First of all, talent must be found. We have an important scouting structure, which constantly goes around and monitors as much as possible. If we're talking about continuity, it's normal for the market to see renewals; we need to keep the most important players with us. We signed Valeri and were the first in Serie A to close a deal, some more will arrive, but without losing our identity. We are happy to return to Serie A, especially for the city. We aim to give continuity to the journey, which is now three seasons strong.'

OUR YOUNG PLAYERS ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE

Bernabé? He was one of the first renewals made, our young players are of interest in the European markets, but we want to be consistent with what we say; if we talk about continuity then we must make this reply to these facts. Man and Mihaila at the European Championship, still competing with Romania? It is a great satisfaction to have our young players involved in international competitions. Not just them but others too: Balogh was with Hungary at the European Championships; Osorio is playing at the Copa America with Venezuela; Bernabé has been called up for the Olympic Games; Rinaldi was with the Under 21s at the recent tournament in Toulon, so real satisfaction on the one hand and pride on the other that these guys are doing well with us and arousing interest'.
