FABIO PECCHIA: “WE MUST TRANSFORM THE ANGER FROM TURIN INTO POSITIVE ENERGY ON THE PITCH”

Collecchio, 3 November 2024 – Fabio Pecchia previewed the Matchday 11 fixture against Genoa during the press conference at the Mutti Training Center:

GAME ORGANISATION

“We performed well against Como and Bologna, and we aim to do the same on Monday against a team I don’t consider weak. It’s clear that we want to maintain our style of play on every pitch, whether at home or away, against any opponent. What we currently lack is victory, but one thing is certain, we want to play this way. I’ve watched Genoa’s recent matches, and regardless of external factors, they played well against Fiorentina. They are a vibrant team, full of energy and eager to compete, complemented by the right amount of experience that helps them navigate challenging moments. We know the qualities of our opponent, and while they may present a different tactical approach compared to Wednesday, they have a clear idea of how they want to play'.

WORKING TOWARDS VICTORY

“Performances against top teams often stand out more. A smaller, newly promoted team playing in Naples or Turin can give the impression of a different approach. However, even in matches where we haven’t won or where we lost, the team has been played well. We’ve made mistakes and paid dearly for them. There have been games that slipped away from us. But we work towards that goal: to entertain the fans, not just with spectacular football, but also with victories. Everything we do is aimed at winning matches”.

SQUAD CONDITION

“Estévez and Benedyczak? Nahuel has added time and stamina; he has a limited fitness level but is absolutely ready, as is Benek. We have lost Valenti, who has had to step back in recent days, but the rest of the group is doing well”.

THE PHILOSOPHY OF 'EVERYONE INVOLVED'

“This is the foundation for building a football organisation. If there isn’t a strong sense of belonging and unity, all technical values will be expressed in a diminished way. I demand a lot from everyone, including those who have been sidelined or on the margins. I expect even more from them because it’s easier for those on the pitch; they receive immediate gratification. I need the entire group.

ATMOSPHERE POST TURIN

'There was the right kind of anger after the game, and now we need to transform that into positive energy to channel onto the pitch. When a team works well throughout the entire match for 90 minutes, it’s frustrating not to secure the victory”.

SET PIECES AND GOALS

“We develop our set pieces by trying to utilise the characteristics of my players. We managed to score against Udinese and in Torino from those situations. These are opportunities that we need to capitalise on, and we want to do so effectively. Additionally, we need to find ways to score in general, including shots from distance'.
