Parma, 4 November 2024 - Head Coach Fabio Pecchia shared his thoughts at the end of the Parma vs. Genoa match on Matchday 11 of the Serie A Enilive 2024/25 season.
'It wasn't a great match to watch from the sidelines, something which happens to us at times. It could've been a draw, it wasn't a particularly good game and it's a defeat that hurts. It was a different game from the usual, when it's shifted onto a different track than ours with continuous duels and second balls, we have to be able to do this too. Genoa committed a lot of fouls, we made a few less, and that along with the injury in the first half, affected the second half. Genoa played were better than us in all of these instances, stronger and braver. We need to try and get level and be close to the sort of teams that play this type of game. The attack? It was a blocked match, up until the goal that they scored, we were in control of the game. And if it had opened up with a few situations... The league table? I said it before the match, it's a league table of two tables, one half and another. We know what we need to do and we will play so to do that, definitely better than we did tonight. Less fluidity in the team? Today the match wasn't a great one, but games can be like this and they can't always be played in a certain way. In this match we weren't as good as Genoa. The forced changes? It's never easy changing the DNA of a particular game, when you want to play and be on top. We had to change gear with the changes, we didn't manage that. Playing every three days can be taxing from a nerve point of view, the level in Serie A is always high. It's a particular match in which we came second. Estévez? In that part of the pitch we lost two players, we will assess Bernabé and Anas' conditions. We will find the right solutions and we hope that Hernani can recover in the break. The booking of Keita was a problem, there was too much risk to find ourselves with one man down. Nahuel's contribution guaranteed a degree of solidity, but the yellow for Keita was a problem. I'm sorry because he would have been really useful in the second half, but the risk was too high'
