WOMEN'S SERIE B, MATCHDAY 11: GENOA 0-1 PARMA

Genova, 24 November 2024 - In the rain at the Stadio Nazario Gambino in Arenzano, Genoa and Parma faced off on matchday 11 of the Women's Serie B. It was a battle between the top and third-placed sides, both of them fielding an attacking XI.

Parma started with great intensity and almost took the lead in the 3rd minute: Peruzzo crossed across the box but Kajzba couldn't quite get on the end of it. The hosts responded in the 7th minute, but Copetti, fresh from her call-up to the national team, was ready to clear the dangerous header.

The all-important goal came in the 12th minute: Peruzzo took a perfect corner, placing it at the back post for Kajza to pick it up on the rebound and fire home. The rest of the first half saw a compact Parma side that did well in managing the Rossoblu attacks.

The game became a test of nerves and determination in the second half. Genoa were hunting for an equaliser but the Parma defence handled it well. With ten minutes to go, Parma went close to doubling the lead through Cox.

Parma walked away with a precious win that sees them still sitting joint top of the table with Ternana. After the international break, Colantuono's side will be back in action on December 8 at the Stadio Il Noce in Arezzo.
