ADRIAN BERNABÉ: “I WANTED TO TAKE THE FREEKICK, NOW WE GO AGAIN IN THE COPPA”

Ascoli, 28 October 2023 - Crociato midfielder, Adrian Bernabé’s comments following Ascoli vs. Parma on Matchday 11 of the Serie BKT championship.

“The freekick? I’m happy to have scored a goal, especially because it came in a period of the match where Ascoli were starting to have more territory in our half. This calmed us down a little bit for the rest of the match. It’d been a long time since I’d scored a free kick, I wanted to take it. I had some doubts because Ansaldi and Dennis had also asked to take it, but I had faith in myself and it went well. Ascoli’s attacks? They brought a lot of men forward to send it long, they have structure up-front. We worked on this a lot this week, they gave us a hard time because they pressed man-to-man when we had the ball. Kudos to Ascoli, they are a great team who will fight to get to the playoffs and won’t be easy to face there. We suffered through this game, they gave us a hard time. As the Gaffer said, and as we say in the dressing room, every match is important and every match is worth three points. We have to approach them all in the same way. The Coppa Italia? We’re not hiding it, it’s clear that our main goal is the league. But there is a desire to play in the Coppa and progress through the rounds because last year we had the chance to play in San Siro, which is an incredible experience, especially for our young players. This year we want to try again, we came close to making it past Inter last year. They are great matches to play in and we will try again. Top of the league? It’s important to secure the three points every week, continue being humble and do what the gaffer asks when we’re on the pitch.”
