COACH FABIO PECCHIA: “WE ARE STILL ALIVE, I SEE A TEAM FULL OF ENERGY”

Parma, 16 February 2025 - Coach Fabio Pecchia's post-match words after Parma vs. Roma on Matchday 25 of Serie A Enilive 2024/25

'We are still alive, we must play and not think about our young age but that cannot be an excuse. The statistics are tough to look at but we are an energetic squad who want to win. There's not much to add. I have a strong connection to the team, I have seen them grow, I know their emotions and I feel what they feel. But this is key to their future as professionals. Playing under pressure and managing these periods will help them grow massively because we must attack matches, play well and win points. Even last year, people were saying that this team didn't have it in them to win, but we managed it well; now we have different emotions and a new situation to manage. We have the energy, I keep seeing their passion, I don't want to talk about particular moments or bad luck. Djurić? He was another option but we have lost him for the rest of the season. We must adapt, this is part of my skills and this is my job. Our DNA is playing, adapting to overcome our opponents and circumstances. In the second half today I saw a team aware of what they needed to do, up against us was an experienced team who saw a lot of the ball and unfortunately we couldn't equalise. This will help the team to approach the rest of the season. At this time we must give our all, like against Cagliari, and the chances will come. However, I see they believe in themselves and I trust this group. It is a huge shame as the boys deserve reward for all the hard work they put in on the training ground. However, we cannot change the results and it has been a bad run. We are already thinking of what's next. What happens won't affect us, if we played with three players, we would still be a young side, therefore we must do good things and they will learn on the pitch. There are no other solutions, but we will continue to explore tactical adjustments'.
