Parma, 10 December 2023 - Parma defender, Gianluca Di Chiara’s comments following Parma’s draw versus Palermo on Matchday 16 of the Serie BKT Championship. 

“We played an incredible game, to be 0-2 down in the first half was unbelievable. Then we did well, we were always in the game, courageous, with the desire to keep our feet on the accelerator. 

We almost made it, then we conceded the third and once again, we did well to stay in the game. I compliment my teammates and our supporters because they gave us an extra push for that goal. We definitely deserved it. Regarding Palermo’s goals, congratulations to Brunori for the first two, we could have done better for the third, including myself. Apart from these mistakes, which can happen in a game, we showed ourselves that by working and putting in everything, the results will come. And we get good satisfaction from them. The way this draw went, it makes us smile. I think we could have won it.

It’s a draw that means a lot but we play to win every game. There’s always a bit of regret after such a performance, although there is also great happiness for saving a game that seemed lost four minutes from the end. To play a game with this intensity after playing 120 minutes in Florence, as some did today, like Coulibaly who was incredible, but everyone overall, it makes me happy that we’ve brought home what we did today. After 2-0, I was honestly convinced in the changing rooms that we could bring it back. Obviously, we weren’t happy about the two goals. They didn’t deserve them. Their third goal was a bit blow but the mental clarity and desire to get back into the game was great and we were rewarded for that.”
