Parma, 17 May 2024 - This morning, at the Auditorium Paganini, Gigi Buffon was awarded the “Seal of the City of Parma”. The former Gialloblu captain received the prestigious award in a room full of youngsters, friends, acquaintances and fans, who were also joined by Mayor Michele Guerra and Sports Councillor Marco Bosi.

Parma Calcio was present through Managing Director Corporate, Luca Martines, who greeted the former goalkeeper and current Italy Delegation Head: “It fills me with joy and pride to be classified as a director who brought Parma back to Serie A. We also owe our current position to you, Gigi, because you’ve done so much, both in the past and last season. We picked up where we left off and you left a huge mark on us, and I’m talking about the Club and the city when I say this. For me, it’s an honour to be here on this special occasion where the city is celebrating this great achievement. Thank you for everything you’ve done and everything you will do.”

It was a very emotional ceremony that retraced Gigi Buffon's 'fairy tale' in Parma and with Parma. This was told through the words of journalist Alessandro Alciato and also involved Gigi revealing a few stories together with Ermes Fulgoni, Sandro Melli, Alessandro Nista and Fulvio Ceresini. In short: a life with Parma.

“It’s unconditional love,” said Buffon. “For me, Parma is home. I’m always glad to come back; I feel protected and feel the affection, love and respect that you go looking for in life. This year, the coach and lads, together with the city and directors, have triumphed in truly admirable fashion.”
