Genoa, 12 January 2025 - Head Coach Fabio Pecchia shared his thoughts at the end of Genoa 1-0 Parma, on matchday 20 of the Serie A Enilive 2024/25 season.
'It's a match that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, the way the goal was scored is something that angers us. However, the game was played. In the first half we sat back too much to form a counter attack and then we made too many mistakes given our qualities. We controlled the ball better in the second half and the match was disrupted by a single incident. Our management of the game was very positive, we needed to be better when it came to the final pass. When we create those sort of chances, we have to make the most of them because we push a lot of men forward. The game was more open in the second half, I saw signs from the group such as the desire to be in the game and the right spirit. I am annoyed because we lost. Venezia? We have to play every game, every game is important and we need to recover a few players. We need to prepare ourselves for the next match with confidence, strength and energy, coming into the game and only thinking about that, nothing else. Balogh? I believe he has done something incredible so far, he couldn't play four consecutive matches last year and this year he's played half of the season, in a situation of absolute emergency. He has held up until this point, where he fell a bit short today. The defence worked well, we lost a player due to the fact that playing the same players all the time exposes us to risks. I don't think we will have him next match. The transfer market? January is a difficult month to work in, it requires extra effort and has to be managed carefully. I hope this month ends as soon as possible. Do we want it? It's an open market, tomorrow we'll take stock, some players may come and some may go'.
