FABIO PECCHIA: “THIS IS SERIE A, UDINESE ARE IN FORM”

Parma, 16 September 2024 - Fabio Pecchia', comments after the Parma vs. Udinese, a Serie A Enilive 2024/25 matchday 4 fixture.

“Today, we faced a strong opponent who proved their quality. We had a solid first half, despite conceding a few chances, but in the second half, we fell short in several areas. There’s a lot of regret and disappointment, but this is Serie A, and it’s an important lesson for us all: we need to learn from this experience. We were eager to play, look to score, and approach the game well. However, Udinese, both in the first half and especially in the second, pressed us hard, reopened the match, and ultimately won. We expended a lot of energy, but Udinese brought physicality, structure, and some rough play in the second half. From that point on, the game shifted. In the first half, we performed many things well, but in the second, we struggled to advance and maintain possession. We lost more balls, did less pressing, and had mistimed pressures, which changed the course of the game. Despite this, we remain eager to play and pursue goals; it’s in our DNA.”

'In the final moments, with a player down, I liked the team's determination to fight for every opportunity, even if it meant getting a bit scrappy. The final embrace with our fans was very positive. Regarding Keita’s red card, I feel for Mandela; perhaps his eagerness to contribute led to the mistake. We’ll have time to discuss and calm down, as these things happen in football.

As for the opponents’ comebacks in the last two league matches, it’s tough when we take the lead but can't hold on. The recent setbacks are disappointing, but they are also part of our learning process. We need to maintain our style, enthusiasm, and love for the game while understanding that the level of the league has risen compared to previous seasons. We go out to play and strive to earn points'.
