Turin, 5 January 2025 - Coach Fabio Pecchia shared his thoughts at the end of Torino vs Parma, on matchday 19 of Serie A 2024/25.
'The lads did brilliantly today, they keep working like this and everyone showed brilliant spirit today against a physical and experienced side. I am proud of my team, regardless of the result, the draw and the clean sheet. The spirit was truly important. Torino had us on the ropes in the first half, as they created different chances, and that's where Zion did really well. The spacing's weren't quite right and we struggled to counter attack. At the end of the first half, we created some important chances, in the second half, we had a much more balanced structure, we were a lot more balanced and controlled the pitch. We created goalscoring opportunities with counter attacks as well as developed plays. I thought Valentin played very well, I want to give him extra praise for his spirit, work rate and sacrifice. Getting so close to scoring means that, sooner or later, he will find the back of the net. It's a difficult moment in time for us, the absences affect our options when it comes to picking a team and choosing players in the best condition. In the last two games, we have tried to change things during the game to give more solidity to the team, we started one way, but we finished with an attacking 4-2-3-1 formation. I still had a few players on the bench, including two players from the Primavera. I'm sorry that there wasn't the chance to put everyone on the pitch. I am asking everyone to give a bit extra because the situation is clear. Today, I appreciated an immense sense of spirit, we all have to give a bit extra. The standings at the end of the first half of the season? Very positive. We're a newly-promoted side, the youngest in the Serie A, and everyone knows how difficult it is to compete in this league. Despite the difficulties, we've never lost our true identity, we have always tried to do what we know. I am satisfied with this, also in the more difficult moments that we have been experiencing in recent weeks. The team have maintained a precise identity, without compromising on it, as we must, winning games in different ways just like we did last Sunday against Monza'.
