FABIO PECCHIA: “WE WON A BRILLIANT GAME, WE HAD THE DESIRE TO PLAY”

Parma, 24 August 2024 - Coach Fabio Pecchia spoke following Parma vs. AC Milan on matchday 2 of the Serie A Enilive 2024/25 season.

Both Cancellieri and Almqvist have only been here for 10 days, integrating isn't simple. Their form is limited but their skills are clear. We are building a complete side with an identity with respect to the group's characteristics. I am happy because, in the most difficult moment, the work from Almqvist and Cancellieri allowed us to go out and win a brilliant game. We need to adapt to a Serie A league that is completely different to what we experienced in Serie B. Games are different now because the sides are stronger, we are under pressure. AC Milan piled on the pressure today, especially in the second half.

Then, the game opens up and we need to profit. I am very happy about the first half, and also the second. We didn't only defend but had the desire to play, to go out and win despite the struggle. Asking for something other than salvation for this side would be out of place. They are young, I need to exploit the benefit of the youth with their enthusiasm and desire to go out there and play and have fun. We stand behind this skill.

Working with these lads for two years now has allowed me to watch them grow. We need to be happy like we were following Fiorentina. It was a big performance, like it was a week ago, against a very strong side. We brought quality, speed and a willingness to make sacrifices. In the end, we were rewarded. Missed chances? I would like to emphasise that we did a lot of good things. Hard work, many chances, people had fun, we pushed forward and moved fast. I am sure that Mihaila will also score. We will continue in our own way with more conviction and more goals. Cancellieri and Almqvist? I am happy with everyone's performance, they have been here for 10 days and it's hard to integrate. They did well. We have a lot to work on'.
