GENOA HAVE ACHIEVED IMPORTANT THINGS
‘Genoa, apart from the change of coach, have also had a change of style and attitude on the pitch. They are a team that has achieved important things in this period. They are a team that wants to play with propose and is aggressive. Last year they scored around 50 points; they are a well-oiled group. They are used to these situations. We will find Genoa a stimulating environment for everyone, including us.'
THE ABILITY TO ADAPT
‘Every time we play, we experience the match and bring something home. We've played the first half of the season now and we can take everything we learnt with us. We will need it for the championship final. Every match is different and, beyond the position in the standings, the boys will have to be ready to understand what the game demands, as happened with Monza and Toro. The ability to adapt must be developed even more because we also need this. What the end of the season will be like? I don't know, we have to think about winning as many games as possible. Many matches have left a bitter taste in my mouth, but those experiences will serve us well.'
TEAM IDENTITY
‘Bonny sometimes does as well on the bench as well as everyone else. I talk to everyone a lot and I have confidence. Of course, there are other aspects: Bonny, for example, has played a lot. When we lost Charpentier, we lost a key player very similar to Angelo, so any other alternative is clearly totally different, also in the system of play. In the last few matches, I have changed a lot during the 90 minutes, but up front, not in the defensive line. All the other positions where there are no changes we have to find solutions as the game goes on: more involvement from many different players, also more of Almqvist in the group, as well as Hainaut, Cancellieri, and Mihaila. Clearly these are other alternatives, solutions that give me the chance to change without upsetting the identity of the team. The tactical aspect is important, but the fundamental aspect is the spirit of the group. And that spirit that I saw on Sunday: I want to see again.'
