MANAGER FABIO PECCHIA: ”POSITIVE RESULT, VICTORY WOULD HAVE BEEN DESERVED”

Parma, 14 January 2024 - Statements from coach Fabio Pecchia, released at the end of Parma v Ascoli, on Matchday 20 of the Serie BKT.

'Highlighting immediately that we could have gone down 0-2, stimulates me. Even though it was offside, I feel like saying. They pressed us high, but they created very advantageous situations for us. We used them poorly or couldn't capitalise on them at all. Spaces were created, we tried, and we were too messy in the final part. Then we recovered the game with merit, and perhaps towards the end, we could have done something more, referring to the crossbar action. It could have been a deserved victory. The last four at Tardini? I always want to see the positive aspect, and we haven't lost any games. Our positive streak continues; not losing games like these where with Palermo and Ascoli, we’ve conceded crazy goals... In between the posts, and then you have to chase. But the team continues; it's a positive result that gives us continuity, and we look ahead.

“Sampdoria? Today, this game is a starting point; Friday will be a completely different match in a beautiful environment against a valuable team, and we'll be ready to play. Winning is always nice, but the game, as it unfolded, is a half-full glass. Today, the result is positive and allows us to move forward. The final attack? On our part, there should have been more desire to break through the door because this is proof that the team wanted to believe and we believed in it. In the final 30 seconds… There, we should have exploited that second ball with more determination. The return? I keep saying it, I don't want to be monotonous. This is Serie B; the games are played. And the leagues, especially Serie B, are open until the last day. This is the signal that needs to be sent. The boys are aware of it, but I like to say it to the entire environment, and to those around the team. Because we need everyone and everything. Viviano the best on the field? In the last 4-5 games, especially at home, the best on the field has been the opposing goalkeeper. But at least we hit the woodwork...'.
