WOMEN'S SERIE B, MATCHDAY 5 SAN MARINO ACADEMY 2 -2 PARMA

Republic of San Marino, 22 October 2023 – The game at the Stadio di Acquaviva between San Marino Academy and Parma ended in a 2-2 draw on matchday 5 of the Women's Serie B season.

Both goalkeepers were busy from the start of the match, with a Parma chance in the 3rd minute and a chance for the hosts three minutes later. It was Odette Kelly Gago to break the deadlock in the 10th minute, her first goal for the Crociate: following a corner, the number 9 whipped the ball past Katarzyna Siejka to give Parma the lead

The Crociate continued to threaten after going ahead. Gloria Ciccioli put a stop to two opposition shots in quick succession after the restart, before Parma had chances in the 14th, 17th, and 20th minutes. The latter saw Antoinette Jewel Williams get her head on a cross from Laura Peruzzo in the centre of the area, but the shot flew just wide.

In the 23rd minute, it was Odette Kelly Gago once again, doubling the lead and bagging a brace. She picked up a ball from midfielder Caterina Ferin and sent the keeper the wrong way with her shot (0-2). Gago was also good in defence, clearing a dangerous free kick from Giorgia Bertolotti in the 26th minute. In the 38th minute, San Marino risked to concede a third when Sofia Kongouli found herself faced with an empty net, but it Valeria Gardel managed to keep her out. A minute later, the hosts were forced to make a change, replacing Aurora Manzetti with Maria Grazia Ladu. After some more promising action, including a one-on-one situation between Gago and the keeper, Parma went into the break 0-2 up.

The second half started with no changes for either side. Parma threatened at the restart with a chance for Kongouli, who was fouled to give the side a penalty in the 48th minute. Captain Caterina Ambrosi failed to convert from the spot, still 0-2.

San Marino Academy got one back in the 56th minute with a shot from the edge of the box from Swami Giuliani. A minute later, Peruzzo received a yellow card for a foul on Soledad Yesica Menin, the opposition captain. It was her, in fact, who found the equaliser for the hosts in the 60th minute after a cross from Raffaella Barbieri.

In the 65th minute, Colantuono made his first changes, bringing Gaia Di Stefano on for Sofia Kongouli. 5 minutes later, Parma made another substitution with the replacement of Perin with Spyridonidou. In the 74th minute, Gago had a go from outside the box. Spyridonidou had a go a few minutes later but it was no trouble for Katarzyna Siejka. In the last 10 minutes, Colantuono tried to change the system with three substitutions, Laura Peruzzo made way for Elena Nichele, Vivien Beil on for Federica Rizza and Veronica Benedetti was replaced by Ludovica Silvioni. Parma couldn't find the winner, despite Gago and Williams having chances, and after 4 minutes of injury time, the final whistle blew.
