YOUNG LADS WITHOUT FAMILIES OF ORIGIN MEET MEN'S FIRST TEAM

Collecchio, 18 July 2024 - A morning together with the Gialloblu squad, an unforgettable morning as always. For a group of teenagers (between 15 and 17 years old), who arrived in Italy without their families, it was an exciting moment to go out onto the pitch wearing the Club’s official shirts, and meet and exchange a few photos together with Fabio Pecchia's Men's First Team. An initiative that started off a long time ago to support young people in entering sport and football. Around 10:00 CEST, the boys received the pre-match training shirts for the anti-racism campaign promoted by our Club, 'Win This Match', depicting the eleven values that had been recommended by Parma and its fans. Our Club has decided to support a sports project which, thanks to football and sport, helps and integrates them into society. Last spring, they met coach Fabio Pecchia and footballer Drissa Camara (who has a smiliar personal story to theirs) at the Mutti Training Centre in Collecchio, while Parma Calcio also donated official Puma gear and equipment to them to be able to carry out their sporting project, where they were presented at the stadio Tardini and where they will return again to watch some Serie A matches and cheer on the Gialloblu.

Today's experience was further enriched with another moment of inclusion into the family: lunch taken in the restaurant at the Mutti Training Centre together with the employees and collaborators of Parma Calcio.

It is a group of young people, currently residing in the communities of the Personal Services Company (ASP) network, in which Parma Calcio is included and in collaboration with the Municipality of Parma, alongside the Ciac O.N.L.U.S. association, the A.S.D. LA PAZ, the A.S.D. San Leo, the Building Services Centre, the Volunteer Service Centre, the community of Sant'Egidio, the Aquila Longhi club and the parish of Porporano. Domenico Sgromo, head of the Personal Services Company of the Casa Baloo community in Porporano said: 'It was a wonderful experience, I would even dare to say legendary for our kids. If they were excited in the previous days, today they leave the Collecchio Sports Centre very happy, knowing that they have new friends in Italy, in Parma, in the territory that welcomed them. Among our projects for social inclusion, sport is a fundamental tool. Parma Calcio is giving us this beautiful and important opportunity.'

Giuseppe Squarcia, Football Social Responsibility Officer at Parma Calcio, who followed the group of eight young people and four helpers, also underlined: 'Support for minors seeking asylum without a family of origin is one of the policies of the social responsibility strategy dictated to clubs by UEFA and FIGC. Thanks to the power of football, we help these kids become part of the host community. At Parma Calcio, we feel this responsibility a lot, to establish and strengthen bonds, and inclusion. This activity of ours is only in its first stages.'
