SPORTING DIRECTOR MAURO PEDERZOLI

“I’m happy to be presenting Tjas: he’s a player we’ve been following for a long time. This is the result of the work of our scouting department led by Massimiliano Notari. He’s a player who we kept a very close eye on last season, and, believing he has some big qualities, we decided to make our move. He’s young but already fairly well proven in Italian football and, in particular, Serie C. We see qualities in him that could make him an important player. Now that I know him, in addition to his technical and physical characteristics, I’ve learnt that he has moral qualities that can only help us. We’re happy to have him with us, and we’re even happier to introduce him here in Valles, where we’re currently away on a training camp. I must say that it’s fantastic to be here because we’ve received an extraordinary welcome at a facility that fits our needs.”

TJAS BEGIĆ

“I played in Serie C for a year; it’s a tough league, just like Serie B. In every match, you need to use your head and be focused because you’ll lose otherwise. This is the only thing I need to do: give my all in every match. I like playing down the flank and running at opponents in 1v1 situations. I want to do at Parma what I did at Vicenza. I know that the level is high, and I’m not here to start every game; I’m aware of this. First and foremost, I want to get along with all the lads, who are all good players. I like everything here, and when an opportunity to play comes my way, I’ll give it my all. The same applies to training sessions. I always need to be positive so I can help the team as much as I can. When I heard that Parma were interested in me, I was absolutely delighted: this is a big Club with a fantastic history. Negotiations took place over 20 days; Parma really wanted me, and this helped me say ‘yes’. I wanted to come here.

“At Vicenza, there were many Italians, whereas there are more non-Italians here. There aren’t any language problems because I can speak English. I like the fact that there are so many cultures and nationalities, and I like talking to everyone. I speak Italian with Pecchia, whose style I like because we use the wingers a lot. I get to have many touches, and I like his ideas. This is my fourth club in four years, and I’ve gone up a level each time. Now, I’m here at Parma and the squad contains a lot of quality. I want to stay here and give everything so I can achieve more and more.

My idol? I like Vinicius jr and look up to him. I need to improve in many respects, whether technically, physically, tactically or mentally. I need to make strides forward every day, which is something we’ll all do together. Responsibility? When you’re part of the first team, everyone has responsibility, both the experienced players and the youngest guys. We’ll try to play every match to win, always giving everything for this jersey. If we play good football, results will arrive, and if we work well, the season will go well.”
